Person Detail

Dr. Hitti joined the BioMolecular Research Program after being awarded a four year Post-Doctoral training from the European Union Research Training Network called “Modulation of Signaling for the Treatment of Cancer, Diabetes and Inflammation”. He worked at the Medical School Hanover and focused on phosphorylation signaling and AU-rich element-dependent post-transcriptional gene regulation in inflammation.

He did his PhD at the Department of Cell Biology and Genetics (now called Max F. Perutz Laboratories) at the University of Vienna in 2002. His thesis focused on RNA-protein interactions and viral immunology. He received his MSc in Microbiology and Biochemistry from the University of Vienna and his BSc in Biology from the American University of Beirut in 1992.

His area of expertise is inflammation and post-transcriptional gene regulation.
